This course provides an overview of various exceptionalities and the services offered in special education. The course is intended to give the student a foundation of knowledge about the nature and needs of children with special needs, and introduces the student to causes and characteristics of specific disabilities, service delivery modes, historical and current issues, legislation, research, trends, and controversies in special education. Field experiences required.
